The surge in petrodollars in Angola, especially since the end of the civil war in 2002 has led to the emergence of extreme wealth which has concentrated in the capital, Luanda.
The display of wealth is the most important way to show a superior position in society. Flashy rich youths go to Luanda's expensive discos and nightclubs.
However, two thirds of the population still live with less than $2 a day.
